Please see attached report with 1 motion.

Motion:  for FNPS to pursue grant funding that would cover the costs of setting up, populating, and curating a database for plant species, plant community, and habitat survey data.

My board report consists of several documents. These are available elsewhere on the forum and/or Council website, but I wanted to make sure ALL board members were able to find them easily.

The first is an email communications I sent to the Council in July announcing my pending resignation as Council Chair as I am moving out of state in the next few months. In this communication I made suggestions to simplify the council and meeting structure. Of the responses I have received, the support has been very positive for these changes.

At this time I will continue to act as chair until a new chair is in place or my move is imminent, whichever comes first.  My involvement may be limited due to dealing with the sale of my parents home and other personal matters.

The second attachment is a list of meeting topics and talking points for future council meetings.

The third attachment is a copy of the agenda for the JUly 23 council meeting where we will discuss the above and determine topics for the upcoming in person meeting in August.

The fourth attachment is a PP Presentation on the role of a Chapter Rep.

The fifth attachment is a PP Presentation on the resources /tools of the Chapter Rep.

20 July

To: FNPS Board of Directors

From: Don Spence, Vice President of Administration

As of 17 July, all contractor invoices that were submitted were approved for payment.

I have been rewriting and rewording the contacts we will let on 1 Jan 2018.  The changes that are being suggested were based on the Excom meeting in June of 2017.

I had a conversation with Cammie about her role so that our next contract meets her and our needs.  If the BOD chooses to move forward with hiring an Executive Director we will need to modify our publications to represent a new mailbox, would we make the ED the registered agent, phone number for the ED, and general inquiries will need go to the ED.

Juliet’s contact – I have not spoken to her about her contract yet.

Andy Taylor – I have asked him for more information on his successes as the Development Director, however, he has not responded yet.

Social Media – Devon said she would talk to Andy about picking up the Social Media responsibilities through the end of 2017.  I have not heard whether or not he will do that.

Sue Mullins – I have made some inquiries into her contract, but I have nothing to report at the moment.

Palmetto and Sabal Minor contracts will remain the same.

I have been coordinating with Marlene Rodak on the contact for the 2018 conference at the Miccosukee Resort and Casino.  Based on Marlene’s comments, and coordination with Juliet, most aspects of the contract are being worked out.

As of 18 July I do not have a date that we expect to finalize the agreement.  Food for Vegans, Vegetarians, and those with gluten or other food allergies, have not been addressed by the Casino.

Communications will have an action item -   while it may not technically need a BOD vote, I do want BOD or ExComm approval

I would like to send out a survey to the membership to
1.   Update skills and interests
2.   Ask about how they learned about FNPS
3.   Ask why they joined
4.   Allow for selected contact information updates

This survey would be sent via CiviCRM (email) and will send the data back directly to CiviCRM

Since we know that many of our FNPS  people are web phobic, the response may be limited, but this is the almost no work method of getting the data
After we have gotten whatever response we are going to get electronically, we might want to follow up with snail mail
