Hello Board members!  Please find attached my President's report that covers the period since the Annual Conference.  And, please take a moment to look over this bio for Grace Howell.  Grace has agreed to serve on the FNPS Board in the capacity of a Director and moving toward the position of Education Chair.  Don Spence brought attention to Grace's interest in native plants, conservation, and FNPS, and I nominate Grace for Board membership.

Grace is a North Florida native and lifelong nature lover.  She graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in Natural Resource Conservation and worked in the City of Gainesville’s Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs for 9 years, first as an environmental educator at Morningside Nature Center and then as a land manager and biologist in all of the city’s nature parks.

She now works for the Alachua Conservation Trust as a land management specialist, carrying out restoration and natural resource management goals on ACT’s conservation properties and teaching land stewardship skills to young professionals through the Women in the Woods internship program.

Since her first FNPS conference in 2015, Grace has attended several land management reviews as a representative for FNPS and spoken at the Daytona conference in 2016 about a collaborative sandhill restoration project in Gainesville. She is a native plant enthusiast, amateur botanist, fire ecology advocate, and Certified Prescribed Burn Manager. Much of her free time is spent exploring, botanizing and delighting in Florida’s natural areas.

This will be my final update for the Conservation Committee.

- Todd is still considering the Chair position.  He doesn't want to commit unless he can "give it his full attention."

- WAREA Partnership Project - we are meeting with PLC monthly and working on our strategy to acquire properties, conservation easements, and encourage Longleaf Pine habitat restoration.

- Sandhill seed collection & restoration - about 1,000 plants (including about 500 Warea amplexifolia) are heading to their new home at SJRWMD (these were grown from seeds collected at the emergency rescue site and a nearby property).

Here's the report for the Council and CoC governance. We've got a lot in the works and could use both feedback and help!
(Edit: Had to fix the links. They should be updated now.)

The Membership Committee Report is posted.
I added FNPS October Month reminder to my Report.

Note that we need to get a theme for Florida Native Plant Month and a coordinator for FNPSM  in October.  Kara  mentioned focusing on Florida Forever in her Report and we need to get started on this as soon as possible

Please let me know if you have any questions.
Anne
