A draft agenda has been started for the pleasure of the board. The agenda will finalize upon receiving everyone's input and approval of the consent agenda; it will be posted as an attachment thereafter:

It was recommended that we include Outside Collaborative in the 2023 virtual conference, however we have no open speaker slots at this time. We could make a space available if the Annual Meeting was removed from the Conference Agenda. We'd like to have a disscussion on this.

There have been some questions as to the optics of a perceived endorsement of their organization. I haven't been able to find out who runs the organization, if they have a leadership structure, or a listing as a registered FL corporation. If anyone knows more, I thank you in advance for sharing the info. Here are some links on the organization.

One of their projects is the homeowner patternbook:

Another project is to work at increasing the use of native plants being grown and used. A part of this is a use survey: https://outsidecollab.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/OUTSIDE-2021-Plant-Survey-Boards-Web.pdf

Council of Chapters report attached.

Also attached are changes to the Council of Chapters guidance (Handbook) which needs approval by Board (Motion attached).  Note that changes include opening Council officer positions to all FNPS members and nomination requests will be more broadly advertised. Nominations needed by 2/15.

All 2022 Hours need to be reported by the end of January 2023.
There will likely be a different link for reporting 2023 hours.

When reporting FNPS State-Wide hours please remember:

BOD Meeting attendance/hours are reported by the Board Secretary.  You are duplicating hours if you report the meetings individually.

If you are reporting meetings, please put the date and type of meeting in the description and please don't combine meetings.

If your hours pertain to one of the 10 activities, please report using that activity rather than Operations/Management

If you have not been keeping track and reporting monthly you can estimate your hours for the year and report as a lump sum.  If you do this please note in the description that hours are "estimated hours for 2022"

Attached is a Conservation Committee report. We have a meeting scheduled for next week and had a good Lunch &Learn session last week to update members.

I looked it up on both the FDACS charity list -- it is not one
I looked it up on the Florida Corporations search - it is not one

I also poked around on the web.  It seems to be associated with Lake Nona and Sunbridge -- both huge developments.  The main developer is associated with both.  There is some significant on-line advertising of Sunbridge as environmentally friendly.   It also says it will be over 27000 acres in 2 counties -- that is beyond huge.  The map also shows that it is either impacting or proposed to impact the southern 3rd of Split Oak.  See https://www.theorlandoreal.com/sunbridge-community-orlando-florida/

Looking at a map, Sunbridge appears to be part of the huge Deseret Ranch development project.

You might want to see if the Lake Nona Home Owners Association knows who and what they are

Personally, I think they'd love to look like they are endorsed by FNPS.  I recommend being very careful about this.   It may be part of deals made during project approval which might lead to a more environmentally friendly development than might otherwise happen.  It may be mostly greenwashing.

I think you need to know more.
