Greetings Everyone:

I have attached my committee reports that encompass the last two months worth of activity for the committee members.

[Conference Committee Report - Mar 16, 2023]

Attached is my report and a copy of the flier with the finished logo, and highlights of the virtual and field days.

[Policy]

Attached is a letter (requested by the FNPS Policy and Legislation Committee)  to the GA EPD  which is reviewing an application for a titanium dioxide mine on the Trail Ridge along the east side of the Okefenokee Swamp.  This mine, if approved, has the potential to severely damage the largest blackwater swamp in North America, and in conjunction with that potentially affect the Suwannee River (it originates in the swamp), the St. Mary's River (also originates in the swamp), their floodplains, Pinhook swamp (in Florida), and the Osceola National Forest.

Please review.

If approved, it will need to be finalized and submitted to GA EPD almost immediately (we do have time for minor edits)

[Policy and Legislation Committee Report]

Please review the report, and also note this is an amended version of the report that was initially posted to include FNPS attendance of the Everglades Coalition Conference, and sponsorship at the Big Cypress level.  A report on the Conference has also been added as a 3rd addendum to the report.

[Conservation Committee Notes]

Here are notes from the Conservation Committee meeting of Feb. 28th. We have five Conservation grant applicants. There were no applicants for the Dan Austin award. The committee is in the process of reviewing the applications to make rankings. There are good projects here.
