[Volunteer Hours Report - September 2024]

45,180 total volunteer hours have been reported through 9/15/24.  This is about 3,000 hours higher than the hours reported at the same time last year.

Note:  The value of Florida volunteer hours has been increased to $31.61 per Independent Sector.

News:  Starting next month, Cherice Smithers will be putting together and sending out the monthly volunteer hours report.

[Council of Chapters Report - September 2024]

Attached is the Council report and a summary report for the 2024 Council Survey.

2024 Council Survey key findings: 
Overall, self-reported Chapter health is better than last year.
13% of Chapters (about the same as last year) report they are struggling.
84% of Chapters report a challenge recruiting leadership.  This is an increase since last year.  Note that 2 Chapters have dissolved in the past 10 months due to lack of leadership and a third is contemplating dissolving.

[Data Distribution Portal Disabled]

Reminder:

The Data Distribution portal (https://members.fnps.org) has now been deactivated so we can give up the domain name.
This portal provided secure (login required) access to the membership database, volunteer hours reporting form, Council Google Drive, and some other links.  Since September 2022 access to all these resources is provided via the Resources tab at https://forms.fnps.org.

[Conservation Committee Report]

The Conservation Committee met via ZOOM on Tuesday, 9/17.  We discussed the Conservation & Dan Austin Award due date (Friday, March 7th 2025 at 5 pm), & if date is acceptable to Science Committee. We are concerned with the lack of applications for the Dan Austin award and may need input from the founding chapter about its continuation. We are reviewing a final version of the Plant Rescue PowerPoint for wider release. We discussed the State Parks development and Withalcoochie Land swap issues - no new information is available now but we agreed to share any new findings quickly.
