This is one of those WOW! moments. Who would have ever thought that such an opportunity would occur.

But here it is. The opportunity to actually restore some natural flow is at hand. There will be a struggle to get the engineers to accept that nature can be aided gently to do what it needs to do rather than engineer every last aspect. But that is what adaptive management is about, finding the solutions as we go along.

Executive Director Whele said that the sugar fields are a bowl and water wouldn't flow out, but former water manager Joe Schweigart has said that there is just enough of a gradient.

Let's find out, I say .   

These are exciting times for Everglades Restoration.
