FNPS Science Advisory Committee Report

1. The Call for Scientific Papers and Posters for the 2008 Annual Conference was published in The Palmetto the Sabal minor and posted on the FNPS website. The Call was distributed by email in early October 2007 to the Science Committee distribution list and an email reminder was sent in January 2008. FNPS Executive Director Karina Veaudry also distributed the Call for Papers to Chapters. The deadline for submissions was February 1, 2008.
2. Abstracts for eight contributed papers and five contributed posters were received and accepted. These papers and posters are scheduled for presentation at the FNPS Annual Conference. Abstracts have been forwarded to the Executive Director.
3. The Announcement of the 2008 Endowment Research Awards published in The Palmetto the Sabal minor and posted on the FNPS website. It was distributed by email in mid October to the Science Committee distribution list and a reminder email was sent in early February 2008. FNPS Executive Director Karina Veaudry also distributed the Announcement of the Endowment Research Awards to Chapters. The deadline for applications will be March 7, 2008.
4. The review committee for the 2008 endowment research awards grants will be Dr. Richard Wunderlin, University of South Florida, Carl Weekley, Archbold Biological Station, Dr. Daphne Lambright, Biotechnical Support Services, and Dr. Paul Schmalzer, Dynamac Corporation.
